Farm Fresh to You: Great veggies & scurvy protection

We’ve been using a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) service for the last several months called Farm Fresh to You. It was recommended to us by a friend when we moved to the Bay Area earlier this year. We get the “regular” box of veggies delivered to our doorstep every two weeks which costs $30, home delivery included. There has been a lot of interesting debate around the “green” value of local grown produce, especially when greenhouses are involved. Some argue that the emissions from growing an item in a greenhouse are greater than those created when the same item is flow to you from a place where the item can be “sun grown”. These arguments have validity, but for those of us who live in places where produce can be grown year round (e.g. California) we don’t have to worry so long as the veggies we eat are appropriately seasonal as Farm Fresh to You deliveries are. Each delivery comes with a description of where the veggies were sourced and suggested recipies.
